Media Industry: Task 1

Task 1

• Publishing (novels, books etc.) - Publishers are responsible for design of a book or a novel how it will look, what font will be used, headings’ design as well as number of a page. They also have the responsibility to print and distribute the product which can be a book, novel, video game, film or newspapers.

• Magazines - It provides different range of stories depending on the type of audience the magazine is aimed for. Journalists are responsible for writing stories and articles for it. Editors on the other hand decide what will be included in the magazine issue. Designers are responsible how the magazine will be structured, its look inside and outside, font

• Newspapers - It mainly provides articles and stories that are happening nationally and internationally to inform public of what is happening in their country and the important things that are happening around the world.

• Animation - This is a process where animators bring 2D or 3D characters into a motion creating a body language, facial expressions etc. and creating a whole sequence to create a narrative story. This process usually happens in video games and animation films such as pixar’s films.

• Film - This is one of the most popular types of media entertainment. It is a compilation of recorded footage on camera to tell a narrative story. It involves wide range of positions that are responsible in creating a film depending on the size of the project.

• Television - This is in a way similar to the film but it also involves reporters who go to the location of the news story that is being reported they also interview people, news anchors tell the news from a studio that is being broadcasted live or recorded on the TV.

• Web 2.0 - It is used to distribute the media such as news articles on various news websites, videos, music and everything else. It save the cost of printing and distributing the product.

• Music - This is a composition that usually includes both lyrics and sound created by an artist and recorded in a studio so it can be distributed to the audience/fans. It also is used in films that is also known as ‘Score’.

• Radio - This is a show without any video image and only contains sound. The main priority if this is to play music; the type of music that is played depends on the format of the radio. It usually is done LIVE where the presenter has various interviews and features that are included on the show.  

• Video Games - Video Game industry has grown massively in the past decade both technologically and in terms of design. It includes many different roles and can have many people that are involved in a single project. Depending on how big the company and the project is it may include roles from programmers, art designers, animators, voice actors to PR department that is responsible for advertising the game, CEOs and any other roles that are responsible of running the business.

• Facilities - Facility is a place for doing something. Event locations, studio rooms, equipment rooms, stage where a film is being shot.
